Interested in become a Host family or Volunteers for MDTFC?

We are always looking for Host Families to provide a warm home environment, on a short term basis for children in a crisis or requiring respite care for Special Needs on a regular basis.

Being a Host family includes:

• involving the child in your day to day family life
• being patient, flexible, creative and resourceful
• providing a positive role model to the child
• being non-judgmental
• treating children with dignity and integrity
• reporting all accidents to the Coordinator

• complete initial training and attend a minimum of 3 training sessions per year
• satisfactorily complete all relevant police and prohibited person’s checks
• work as a team with the Coordinator
  

• Competency based training
• certificate of achievement
• priority assistance
• support 24 hours per day
• Reimbursement for some living expenses
